Isabel Ings is a 2019 New Colombo Plan Mobility Grant Recipient from Curtin University. Isabel undertook the Agriculture Semester Program at Bogor Agricultural University in Semester 2, 2019.
Q: Why did you decide to undertake ACICIS’ Agriculture Semester Program (ASP)?
The opportunity to study in Indonesia would be an invaluable experience for me, as I study Agribusiness, because Indonesia and Australia have a close international business relationship.
Q: What classes/units are you currently enrolled in?
International business: learning content regards the way Indonesian businesses operate on a global level, as well as investigating differences between Indonesian companies and other global companies from places such as America, Australia and many others.
Principals of plant biotechnology: learning content regarding the microbiology of plant growth and everything that impacts the successful growth in Micropropagation of plants and the importance behind being able to grow plants in artificial environments.
Entrepreneurial experience: learning content regards running a successful small business in Indonesia. success in this course relies heavily on communication with local Indonesian students.
Tropical biodiversity conservation: about conserving the natural environment in the tropics of indonesia including its endangered species.
Q:How has your study in Indonesia influenced your understanding of the environment in the region?
It has improved my understanding of the differences in resource availability in Indonesia and the challenges this inflicts on preserving the sustainability of Indonesian food produce.
Q: What do you like to do in your spare time in Bogor?
I like to try the different food cuisine offered in Indonesia. I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunities to go hiking and explore the beautiful countryside of Bogor. I enjoyed the shopping and other tourist attractions including the beauty of the botanical gardens.
Q: Are you undertaking an internship while in Indonesia (brief description)?
Yes. with blast, a holding company for 15 separate local Indonesian enterprises. namely, biomedical science Indonesia and fits Mandiri.

Soto Ayam, Nasi Goreng, Nasi Padang, Mie Ayam, Ayam Bakar

The two local warungs outside my kos, they served Ayam akar, soto ayam and mie ayam.

These came in most common for me; Maaf, Aduh, Saya malu, Terima Kasih.

Bogor, Cimaja, Bali, Bandung, Lombok, Gili Islands.
Q: Your testimonial regarding IPB?
IPB is a great university and has made a major impact during my university education. it was a great way to immerse yourself into Indonesian student culture. i met some of the smartest young inspiring people during my time at IPB and they will forever motivate me to work harder and do my best at everything I attempt.
