Youseng Jin was a participant on the 2021 Virtual Business Professional Practicum. Youseng is studying a Bachelor of Business, Marketing at RMIT University.
Q: Why did you decide to undertake the ACICIS program?
I decide to join the ACICIS virtual internship program because I really desire to apply my HR major knowledge and apply this to a real workplace, and get more work experience. Further to this, I don’t want to waste my summer holidays! So ACICIS VPP is a fantastic choice for me.
Q: What organisation did you intern with?
Fischer & Partner Recruitment, Client Relationship Team.
My main responsibilities were:
– generating new business leads via email, web chat & cold calls to achieve business goals
– researching market knowledge to explore potential business options
– maintaining up to date knowledge about industry and services
– providing daily reports to CR manager & country director
– participating in the recruitment processes (interview)
Q: What are the main skills you have learnt during your virtual internship?
I obtained business communication skills and interview skills during this internship. This experience taught me how to ask questions when I interview a candidate, and how to ask effective questions. It has improved my communication skills and some soft skills such as be patience, be initiative to work and time management.
Other skills I have learnt are cultural intelligence as well as resilience when working with different cultures. This really makes me very confident for work in the future.
Q: What did you find to be the most rewarding part of this virtual experience?
The most rewarding part for me is I learnt what the country of Indonesia exactly is, about Indonesia’s culture, economy, politics and even laws.
Secondly, I think I’m really lucky to have been placed with a head hunter company, because I was able to communicate with new clients and even to conduct interviews. I learned so much from this.
Q: Were you able to learn about the Indonesian culture from this virtual program? If yes, how was this achieved?
Yes, with many insightful seminars and discussions with partners, learning from Bahasa Indonesia classes and during the internship.

Of course I will, this program is really insightful and let me understand and experience relevant working.
