Since ACICIS was established more than two decades ago, many people have contributed to its growth and success. But few more than our late colleague David Armstrong, our longest-serving ACICIS Secretariat administrative officer and manager, who passed away 12 months ago on 26 February 2015.
I wanted to acknowledge publicly the contribution David made to our collective endeavour. He was involved with ACICIS for more than a decade, both as a student (spending three semesters studying with ACICIS, initially in 2002) and subsequently in various administrative capacities in the Secretariat until 2013. He played a major role in numerous successful grant applications and in the development of programs. He steered the Secretariat through some challenging times, with a steady hand and attentive eye. The quality of his work was recognised too by the Murdoch University Vice Chancellor’s Award for Excellence (Support Services) in 2011.
David worked tirelessly to support colleagues and students and was a great friend of ACICIS. He is greatly missed by many.
Regards,
Professor David T. Hill AM,
ACICIS Consortium Director
