ACICIS Study Indonesia is pleased to welcome 12 students participating in our Bandung semester-long study options this coming semester at Universitas Katolik Parahyangan (UNPAR). Eleven of these students have received New Colombo Plan Mobility Grants to support their participation in ACICIS programs.
The 12 students of semester 43 students in Bandung come from Murdoch University, Flinders University, University of Adelaide, Australian National University, Charles Darwin University, Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, University of Melbourne, University of Western Sydney, and University of Tasmania. Having come from different academic backgrounds such as International Relations or Indonesian Studies, they will all be studying on ACICIS’ International Relations Program (IRP) or the West Java Field Study (WJFS).
In order to help the students settle in their new home in Bandung, ACICIS ran a one-day orientation at the faculty of social and political science, Universitas Katholik Parahyangan (UNPAR). Led by ACICIS Deputy Resident Director, Dr Adrian Budiman, PhD, orientation covered a wide range of topics such as health and security, academic life in Indonesia, as well as information about living in the beautiful city of Bandung. To wrap up the orientation, all the students spent the weekend enjoying dinner in the Punclut area, one of the most famous culinary district with its specialisation in Sundanese food – along with the stunning city-light scenery of Bandung.
Students were also enrolled in their classes for their semester program. Many of the students will shortly begin their IRP professional placements (internships) with local government or community organisations.
