ACICIS had the amazing opportunity of hosting 7 students in-country for the Summer Business Professional Practicum (BPP) from January to February 2023 for the first time in the previous two years. The University of Western Australia (UWA), RMIT University, Murdoch University, Curtin University, and the University of Sydney were among the five Australian universities that our students attended and represented. They have all successfully finished the BPP with a $3,000 New Colombo Plan Mobility Award.
This year’s BPP participants engaged in a thorough two-week academic program that comprised a number of business and economics-related seminars, corporate visits, and in-depth 40-hour language courses provided by the Language Centre at Atma Jaya Catholic University. Our speakers gave students an understanding of the Indonesian business and economic structure in order to better prepare BPP participants for their 4-week practical job through placements. These seminars covered a wide range of topics, including Indonesia’s economic environment, the digital and creative economy, and how the IA-CEPA affects the Indonesian industries. Participants included high profile startup directors, government officials, business directors, and practitioners.
The BPP participants also got the opportunity to visit two business sites in Tangerang and Jakarta, including the headquarters and training center of Indonesia’s largest e-ticketing company as well as a renowned cosmetics manufacturer. Participants at PT Nosé Herbalindo learned about the Indonesian beauty industry and how local manufacturers and factories can effectively compete in the global market. Finally, at Traveloka Academy, participants gained a deeper grasp of Indonesia’s digital economy and how it contributes to the sustainability of Indonesia’s business environment as a whole.
The last four weeks of the BPP program were spent interning at host organizations throughout Jakarta, which was the program’s most crucial and essential phase. ACICIS partnered and worked with four host organizations for the 2023 Agriculture Professional Practicum, including consulting firms, accounting firms, Australian government offices. These organisations include the Government of Western Australia Jakarta Offices (GoWA), Kiroyan Partners, Okusi Associates, and the Institute for Sustainability and Agility (ISA). Our students’ organisation mentors, who have years of practical and technical experience in respective fields, as well as our own Academic Program Officer, Dr. Ari Rakatama, and Co-Academic Program Officer, Ms. Alya Mirza, oversaw their placements and internships the entire time.
We congratulate all 7 of our students on their exceptional performance and accomplishment in the 2023 Business Professional Practicum with a lot of pride and delight. We hope that these students come back to Australia a different person, and we wish them nothing but success in their future endeavors.
