ACICIS is very excited to announce Pranoto Iskandar as the Academic Program Officer (APO) for the Summer 2022 iteration of the Virtual Law Professional Practicum (LPP). Pran was also appointed as our APO for the virtual program in Winter 2021.
Pran is the Founding Director of the Institute for Migrant Rights and is an O’Brien Fellow at the Faculty of Law, McGill University. He was the Inaugural Fellow for The Institute of Asia and Pacific Studies of the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus and has been a visiting scholar at University of Oslo’s Norwegian Centre for Human Rights and Cornell Southeast Asia Program. He has written, edited and translated several books and articles on international law, constitutionalism, human rights, and migration. He has also lectured at several universities, including the Peking University’s School of Transnational Law, Monash University Malaysia, and some Indonesian law schools. See his full profile here.
An Academic Program Officer is assigned to each of ACICIS’ professional practicum programs to oversee all aspects of a program, including the supervision of its academic content and assessment of student performance. The APO and ACICIS Resident Director oversee application vetting, participant selection, and work placement allocation. During the virtual program, the APO meets regularly with a student’s Host Organisation placement supervisor – and with the student themselves – to provide mentorship, to ensure that a student is getting the most out of their placement, and to assess a student’s performance. The APO provides students with advice on academic and industry-specific matters, and also plays a key role in curating and delivering the series of industry seminars that students undertake throughout the program.
ACICIS is delighted to welcome Pran as the supervising academic of the LPP. Participating students will be extremely well served by Pran’s experience and expertise in law in Indonesia.
