Former ACICIS student Charlotte Corbyn (Semester 39/Aug 2014) studied at Universitas Katolik Parayhangan, Bandung for one semester.
Charlotte completed the West Java Field Study Program as part of her honours in Politics and International Relations at Murdoch University. The program in Bandung provides students with the opportunity to conduct independent field studies in an area of their choice. Charlotte chose to write her thesis on the role of trade unions and oligarchic power in the 2014 presidential elections.
AustraliaPlus recently interviewed Charlotte about the time she spent in Indonesia and what she learnt from her time there.
Charlotte said;
“My time with ACICIS changed my perspective of Indonesia. Before I went I had some sense that it was important for Australians to get to understand Indonesia better, given we are neighbours, but I hadn’t realised just what a diverse, exciting and interesting country it is.”
