Two ACICIS alumni recently participated in this year’s 2015 Pidato Antarabanga Bahasa Melayu (PABM) competition in Malaysia.
Emma Roberts (Semester 39/Aug 2014) and Wyatt Gordon (Semester 33/Aug 2011) were both selected to speak at PABM 2015. Congratulations to you both.
To see the highlights of their speeches and interviews with them, watch this video:
PABM is an international Malay and Indonesian language speaking competition coordinated by the office of the Prime Minister of Malaysia. All entrants take part in a home stay program and speaking events throughout Malaysia. The competition offers prizes worth up to US$7,000 — and flights, accommodation and entertainment are included. It is an excellent opportunity for Malay and Indonesian speakers around the world.
Both alumni were also interviewed on the Malaysian National News, and Emma Roberts was also featured on Suara TV and Mynewshub Channel.
A few other ACICIS alumni have participated in this contest in the past.
At 2013 PABM, Courtney Saville (Semester 27/Aug 2008) wrote an AIYA blog post about her PABM experience.
Here are a few more videos of other ACICIS Alumni that have also participated in PABM in recent years:
• Ayleen O’Hanlon (Semester 25/Aug 2007)
• Sally Hill (Semester 27/Aug 2008)
• Genevieve Woods (Semester 31/Aug 2010)
• Rennie Roos (Semester 33/Aug 2011)
