At the beginning of their semester, ACICIS Indonesian Business, Law and Society (IBLS) students are enrolled in a compulsory Indonesian Language and Culture class at the Centre for International Language and Culture Studies (CILACS UII). This class is taught at a beginner, intermediate, or advanced level, and provides students with the opportunity to gain an understanding of Indonesian culture and language, with the support of the Universitas Islam Indonesia‘s faculty staff and student buddies. At the conclusion of the semester, students have the opportunity to participate in cultural activities organised by CILACS.
ACICIS’ Semester 46 student (February-June 2018), Demi Lee Thackrah from Murdoch University, visited Kembangarum Tourist Village to learn how to cook Indonesian traditional food Lotek and Trancam. Before learning to cook Lotek and Trancam, Demi also had the opportunity to practice her Indonesian language skills at an Indonesian traditional market (Pasar) to collect the ingredients.
Thanks to the Centre for International Language and Culture Studies for delivering an excellent Indonesian language learning environment for our student, and best wishes to Demi as she commences her classes at Universitas Islam Indonesia.
