Q: Why did you decide to undertake the ILSC?
Upon the recommendation of my University lecturer, I decided to undertake the ILSC as part of my Indonesian Major.
Q: What did you find to be the most challenging about the ILSC?
I find the classes challenging because they are all in Indonesian but I think this is a good thing.
Q: How will your proficiency in Indonesian language gained through the ILSC influence your future career or study?
This course helps me to fulfil the language component of my Indonesian major and finish my bachelor of arts at University.
Q: Have you had previous experience learning Indonesian in Australia? If so, how different is in-country Indonesian language learning to your previous experiences? If not, how do classes in Indonesia compare to classes in Australia?
In Australia language classes are instructed using much more English, although our lecturers instruction is similar. In country learning gives us the opportunity to continue learning outside of the classroom too.
Q: Would you like to return to Indonesia for future study or work?
Yes, I would like to return to Indonesia for future study or work although at the current time I have no particular plans to do so.
Q: What did you most enjoy about the course?
The in depth explanations of Indonesian grammar and class discussion
Q: What do you like to do in your spare time in Salatiga?
Mostly visiting cafes and restaurants, we also visited Semarang over the long weekend and saw some tourist sites.
