Q: Why did you decide to undertake the ACICIS program?
I decided to undertake ACICIS PHST program because I believe that it will be a great opportunity to learn more about Public Health especially in a developing country such as Indonesia. In addition to that, I also believe that it will inspire me more to become a great nurse in the near future.
Q: What did you find to be the most challenging about your experience on the PHST?
The most challenging experience for me in the PHST is the language barrier, especially when wanting to buy something or go somewhere, trying to speak to a local Indonesian.
Q: What public health issues in Indonesia have you become more interested in/aware of as a result of this tour?
With all the interesting topics and issues we learned in the 2 weeks in Indonesia, I would say I was interested on how the Primary Health Care services were provided, such as in Puskesmas and Posyandu, and also the Rifka Annisa visit which dealt with the issue about women violence and abuse.
Q: What was your favourite field trip?
My favourite field trip was visiting the Puskesmas and Pusyandu in Yogyakarta. Meeting all the hard working people in the community health centre and sharing their knowledge, and at Posyandu with spending time with the community especially the children.
Q: How do you think the Public Health Study Tour will influence your future careers or studies?
Being one of the 42 students in this great opportunity, I am greatly inspired to become a great nurse in the near future, with the hope of being someone who can help with improving Public Health in developing countries such as Indonesia.
Q: What did you most enjoy about the seminar series?
I enjoyed learning in all the seminars, but my favourite would be the topic which addressed the issue about Dengue which included a field visit in Eliminate Dengue Project in Yogyakarta.
Q: What was your favourite aspect of visiting Indonesia?
Lovely people, beautiful places to visit, amazing food.
