Q: Why did you decide to undertake the ACICIS program?
I chose to undertake this internship in Indonesia because in Australia, I was exposed to a lot of western culture. Indonesia is definitely very different to Australia in terms of culture and values. I wanted to expose myself to the other side of the spectrum. Learn about how things are produced and how things operate and bring back those new skills. I think by exposing myself to different culture, it would allow me to work well with different cultures etc.
Q: What organisation will you be interning with? (Explain your roles and responsibilities)
I am interning with Malesbangetdotcom. My role and responsibility is videographer as well as help out with other areas of production.
Q: How have you found the work culture of your host organisation? How is it different to work experience in Australia?
The work culture of my host organization is very relaxed. However, when things need to get done everyone’s mind is switched on and the task is completed quickly and well. In comparison, its expected that when you show up to work – you do work. Whereas, people come to work here in Indonesia to socialize and only work when needed.
