Natariga Panyawatcharakun is from RMIT University. Natariga is studying a Bachelor of International Studies.
This is Natariga’s first semester with ACICIS, and she is undertaking the Development Studies Immersion Program at Gadjah Mada University.
Q: Why did you decide to undertake the ACICIS program?
As a student undertaking a BA in International Studies and aiming for a career in International Development in South East Asia, the DSIP Program was an easy decision for me as it offered me everything from an educational, professional and personal aspect right in the worlds largest archipelago!

Q: What are some challenges living in Indonesia?
The first few weeks are most challenging with the language barrier, adjusting to a hotter climate and generally just a different way of living. However, after a couple weeks of Indonesian language classes, networking, meeting friends, settling in, understanding the way things work and getting to know your neighbourhood, the challenges subside and you really get to appreciate this exchange experience even more as it really is an opportunity to live and study in a fantastic environment.
Q: What do you like to do in your spare time in Yogyakarta?
During my spare time during the week I love to eat delicious food, meet up with friends and check out different spots in Jogja.
Over the weekends I love to venture off a little further into the mountains, villages or to beautiful islands!
Q: What is your favourite Indonesian food?
Geprek, Ikan bakar, dan sambal!
Q: What is your favourite Indonesian word or phrase?
“Menarilah dan terus tertawa. Walau dunia tak seindah surga. Bersyukurlah pada yang kuasa. Cinta Kita di dunia selamanya.”
